Fireflies.ai review: the filing clerk for talkative teams
Fireflies sends a bot named Fred to your meetings, transcribes without a minute meter on every tier, and then files what was said into more integrations than any rival on our shortlist. The catches are storage, credits, and the bot itself — all manageable, all worth knowing before you commit a team to it.

What Fireflies is
Fireflies.ai is a meeting transcription and conversation-intelligence service built around bot capture: Fred joins your Zoom, Teams, or Meet call as a participant, records, transcribes with speaker labels, and produces summaries, action items, and topic breakdowns. On top of that sits AskFred, an AI assistant you can interrogate — "what objections came up in last week's demos?" — and a long catalog of integrations that push notes into CRMs, task managers, dialers, and Slack-shaped places. You can also upload audio files and use a browser extension, so bot capture isn't the only door in.
The plans, with the numbers that matter
| Plan | Price | Transcription | The catch to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Unlimited | Storage capped (~400 min/team per third-party guides); few AI credits |
| Pro | $10/mo annual · $18 monthly | Unlimited | 8,000 min storage/seat; 20 AI credits/mo (per third-party guides) |
| Business | $19/mo annual · $29 monthly | Unlimited | Adds video, CRM sync, analytics; credits still metered |
| Enterprise | $39/mo annual | Unlimited | SSO, custom retention, volume terms for 50+ seats |
Two honesty notes on that table. First, the tier prices are Fireflies' own, from their pricing page and knowledge base. Second, the storage and credit ceilings are reported consistently by current third-party pricing guides but aren't printed on the pages we could verify directly — treat those specific numbers as approximate and check the checkout. The shape is not in doubt: transcription is unlimited everywhere, and what's rationed is how long recordings are kept and how much AI assistant you get.
That shape matters. "Unlimited transcription" reads like generosity until an old call you need has aged out of a full storage locker. For a solo user on Free, Fireflies is a transcriber with a short memory. For a paying team, storage per seat is roomy and the model works.
What it does well
- No minute meter, any tier. Long meetings don't get truncated mid-thought — a direct contrast with Otter's caps.
- The integrations catalog. CRM logging, task-tool handoffs, Zapier plumbing — if the transcript is a means to filing things, Fireflies files hardest.
- AskFred. Asking a quarter's worth of meetings a question is genuinely powerful for sales and success managers, credits permitting.
- Multiple capture doors. Bot, uploads, extension — you're not locked to Fred when a recording already exists.
Where it falls down
- Storage is the real meter. The free tier forgets; even paid tiers ration memory per seat. Budget for the tier your archive needs, not the one your meetings need.
- AI credits. The assistant in the demos is metered in the product. Heavy AskFred users climb tiers faster than they expect.
- Fred is visible. A bot named Fred in the participant list charms some rooms and chills others. For bot-averse guests, see notes without a bot — and whoever captures, announce the recording.
- Noise is not its department. Fireflies transcribes the audio it receives, clatter and all. If your transcripts are messy because your rooms are, fix the audio first — that's Krisp's half of the problem.
Who Fireflies actually suits
Teams whose meetings feed systems. If every sales call must land in the CRM with a summary and next steps, Fireflies Pro or Business is the least manual way to make that true, and the per-seat price is fair against Otter's equivalent tiers. Solo note-hoarders should look at Fathom, whose free plan doesn't forget; people whose real problem is audible chaos should start at Krisp.
Verdict
7.3 / 10 on our rubric — the team pick, with metered memory
Unlimited transcription (8) and strong notes tooling (8) carry the score; the free tier's storage ceiling (7) and cloud-only, credit-metered assistant hold it under the board leaders. Weights and working: the shortlist.

Can I rename or hide Fred?
Fireflies documents a custom bot name as a paid add-on. Hiding the bot isn't the model — it's a participant, and honestly, it should be visible: silent recording is how you end up as the case study in our consent guide.
Is the free plan usable long-term?
As a transcriber of recent meetings, yes. As an archive, no — storage caps mean older recordings age out. If "free forever, keep everything" is the requirement, that's Fathom's lane.
Why no accuracy percentage?
We don't publish numbers we didn't measure, and meeting-room accuracy is dominated by audio quality anyway — the full argument here.
