Margin Notes

The jottings that don't fit in a comparison table. Minutes are the official record; margin notes are where the truth goes — short essays from the desk on transcripts, meeting bots, and the strange new manners of rooms that know they're being written down.

Reviews and rankings live on the shortlist, and the durable reference material sits in the guides — accuracy, consent, privacy, how the machines work. This page is for everything with a pulse: the observations, the small complaints, the etiquette dilemmas nobody's boss has ruled on yet. New notes get filed when we have something worth saying, which is a publishing schedule we recommend to everyone.

What we're watching

Three threads this desk keeps a pencil on: bot-free capture going mainstream (Fathom's beta following Krisp's lead — capture without the awkward participant is becoming table stakes); meters moving around (vendors keep re-drawing the line between "unlimited transcription" and the storage or credit caps behind it — our shortlist tables carry check-dates for exactly this reason); and consent tooling, where the software is still years behind the awkwardness. When any of these moves, it gets a margin note.
